PICKAWAY – The Circleville parks commissioner wants to remind kids and parents that the parks are open but the pay equipment is closed.
The Commissioner told us that hes been driving around local parks and seeing kids on equipment at the playground specifically Mary Virginia park. “This also includes the dog park because you have to touch equipment and that could spread COVID-19.”
This closure affects the shelter houses, dog park, playground equipment, only thing that is not closed is walking trails or walking in a park. If you walk with your dog please clean up that mess, the city workers shouldn’t have to do that.”
“This isn’t a Circleville Deal but a state and National thing that mandates the parks are closed. Having people who are not listening to this order could create the possibility for more people to get sick or even die from this virus, so I am very concerned about it.”
According to the WHO, “it is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems to behave like other coronaviruses. Studies suggest that coronaviruses (including preliminary information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days. This may vary under different conditions (e.g. type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment).
If you think a surface may be infected, clean it with simple disinfectant to kill the virus and protect yourself and others. Clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.”
