LIBERTY TOWNSHIP – The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Ohio 158 at the intersection of Blacklick Road.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:55 a.m. Aug. 18.
Lindsay G. Baker, 18, of Newark was traveling south on Ohio 158 in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Carol A. Martino, 68, of Canal Winchester was traveling east on Blacklick Road in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Martino failed to yield from a stop sign at Ohio 158 and was struck by Baker. Martino was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were wearing their safety belts at the time of the crash.
Troopers from the Lancaster and Granville Posts of the Highway Patrol, along with Basil Joint Fire and EMS, and the Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene. The Highway Patrol urges all motorists to avoid distractions while driving and to use all available safety equipment. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
