FAIRFIELD – Update 2: A sad update on an accident that took the life of a teenage student in Amanda Clearcreek schools yesterday.
The accident occurred at the intersection of US-22 and Sandhill rd. just outside of the village of Amanda. Police are still investigating the accident at this time but a collision between a dump truck and the teenagers car at that intersection has taken the life of Sophie Mazgay.
According to reports Mazgay was taken from the scene to Fairfield Medical hospital, due to lifeflight helicopter declining to fly due to weather. She was then transported to Grant Hospital in Columbus by medical helicopter in Fairfield.
Locals reported that doctors tried many life saving methods and even surgery to save the young girl but in the end the injuries sustained were too much.

UPDATE 1: Local Amanda Clearcreek Boosters have updated and confirmed that the earlier accident today involved a student athlete from the school.

Fairfield emergency first responder services are heading to the scene of a two vehicle accident on US-22 and Sandhill rd. the accident occured around 12 noon today.
According to dispatch they have requested a air helicopter but it was declined do to weather. One is entrapped.
Please avoid the area for the next hour as many emergency services are on scene. Sandhill road is currently shut down in the area.
