Ross County OH- The Ross County Health District sent out a press release regarding Home Coming celebrations or gatherings.

“It has come to the attention of the Ross County Health District that events are being planned within our community for Homecoming Celebrations or gatherings. Although many of our local schools have decided to not hold homecoming dances or gatherings to help curb the spread of COVID-19 within their school district, there have been reports of privately planned homecoming events / celebrations at other venues outside of the school districts.

Ohio is currently under Public Health Orders issued by the Director of the Ohio Department of Health to prevent the spread of a contagious or infectious disease (COVID-19). Over the past several months, the Director of Health has issued various sector specific orders and guidance documents which allows the re-opening of businesses, workplaces, schools, sporting events, and many other types of operations.

Events such as homecoming dances or celebrations do not have sector specific guidance issued by the Director of the Ohio Department of Health. Until the Public Health Orders are amended or rescinded by the Director of the Ohio Department of Health, or until sector specific guidance is issued for events such as homecoming dances or celebrations, these types of events are prohibited as specified in the Director’s Orders.

Any business or operation that is permitted to re-open under sector specific guidance, such as banquet halls, catering operations, food service or retail food operations, entertainment venues, and concert halls / auditoriums are required to follow the guidance set forth under the specific public health order.

It is strongly recommended that any operation that intends to hold a celebration or gathering of 10 or more people contact the Ross County Health District prior to holding such an event to determine if the event is permissible under the current orders. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the business or operation to ensure that all public health orders are followed within their establishment and that all sector specific guidelines are followed.

It is our goal to continue to ensure we limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community to help keep our residents and vulnerable populations at a lower risk of contracting COVID-19. Any individual who may be considered a close contact of a positive or suspected case of COVID-19 would be subject to a quarantine period of 14 days. The Ross County Health District will continue to work with our local businesses, schools, and operations to ensure they create a safe environment to limit the spread of COVID-19.
