Perry County OH- Salt Lick Township – The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one vehicle fatal crash on SR93 at milepost 7 in Perry County. The crash occurred on October 8, 2020 at approximately 02:15 AM.
Tracy Wintermute II, age 55, of New Straitsville was traveling southbound on SR93 in a maroon 2005 Ford F150 when he lost control, drove left of the centerline and off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, overturned multiple times and came to final rest off the right side of the roadway. Mr. Wintermute was not wearing his safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Mr. Wintermute died as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash. Impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Troopers from the Lancaster Post of the Highway Patrol are investigating the crash. Members of the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, New Lexington Fire Department, Shawnee Fire Department, and the Perry County Coroner’s Office were on scene. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
