COLUMBUS – The Ohio State football team says it doesn’t know if they will play next week vs Michigan State due to positive tests within the team.
This week Coach Day was tested positive for COVID-19 and other athletes have also tested positive, cancelling this Saturdays game vs Illinois. Now the team is looking to next weeks game with question.
Ohio State Athletic Director Gene Smith said during a live presentation today that members of the football team who tested positive for COVID-19 are doing well and no one has required significant medical treatment.
The Big Ten Football assoication requires teams to put activities on hold if there is a population positivity rate of 7.5% and a team positivity rate of 5%.
Before this week Smith said that the positivity rate of the team was 0%, and stressed to football players and staff to do the right thing and stay healthy, and “we have a chance to play against Michigan state next week.”
