ORIENT – The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction reports that one inmate is dead and two correction officers are in the hospital after a altercation within the facility.
The department says the incident happened at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient.
“The altercation occurred when the female officers were attempting to remove the inmate from his cell, and he became combative,” the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction said in a release
According to the facility the officers suffered, “serious injuries” one officer has been treated and released the other remains hospitalized.
The inmate was pronounced dead in Mount Carmel Hospital
