for 2021 Community Impact Award
On behalf of the United Way of Pickaway County, we are pleased to announce SEVEN finalists for the 2021 Community Impact Award! Our 2021 finalists are Mike Wagner, Cindy Wagner, Mark Denniston, Sharon Link, Suzie McMullen Ebenhack, Karla Exline, and Terrell Edwards.
About the Nominees
Karla Exline is a nominee representing Pickaway County Public Health (PCPH) where she has volunteered to assist with everything from contact tracing to immunization prep in the last year.
Cindy Wagner, a co-director of the Emergency Clearinghouse Food Pantry, has gone assists those in need of meals during the pandemic. She also is a dedicated volunteer of the newly created Emergency Homeless Shelter in Circleville.
Terell Edwards, volunteers to coordinate distributions for one of PICCA’s satellite Fresh Produce Distribution locations in Tarlton. Going above and beyond, Terrell finds unique ways to engage members of our community through the organization of weekly collections of shelf-stable food items through her church which she then transports, organizes, packs, and distributes along with produce.
Mike Wagner, a co-director of the Emergency Clearinghouse Food Pantry, goes above and beyond to secure food donations for the food pantry and also spend time volunteering to officiate ball games for youth in the area.
Suzie McMullen Ebenhack is a Community Kitchen volunteer who prepares meals that are healthy for those in need, often including items she brings to prepare meals from “The Farm Stand Market” she and her husband own and operate. Suzie has often brought fresh produce to give extra vegetables/fruits to make sure families have more than enough for extra nourishment.
Mark Denniston, is the director of outreach ministries at Circleville Community United Methodist Church. He’s also dedicated his time to connecting the homeless population to resources around the community.
Sharon Link spends countless hours gathering and organizing food for the students and families of Westfall School district. She also volunteers several nights a week at the Emergency Homeless Shelter of Circleville.
Last year, former Pickaway County Sheriff’s Sergeant and D.A.R.E. Officer Dale Thomas was named the inaugural winner of the community-based United Way honor.
These amazing individuals have gone above and beyond in service to others over the past year (and for much longer than that) and we are incredibly indebted for their efforts and for our community for voting them through the first round of community surveying.
Starting this coming Monday, February 15th and running through April 1st, you can begin voting daily for the candidate of your choice who will go on to be selected this year’s winner and have five, 2021 scholarships in their name given out to high school seniors as a part of our scholarship competition.
