COLUMBUS – Officers responded to a mass shooting in a downtown park around midnight last night in the state capitol of Columbus.
According to a press release police were called the 233 Civic Center Dr at 11:51 pm for the reports of multiple gunshots in the area. When police arrived they found six people suffering from gunshot wounds some in critical condition.
A 16 year old Olivia Kurtz was transported to Grant Hosptial in critical condition from a gun shot, but succumbed to her injuries shortly afterwards
Five others were transported to local hospitals with gun shot wounds including two other juveniles and three young adults all are expected to survive injuries.
Two others received minor injuries from fleeing the incident.
Police reported that the incident happened during a private event at the park. This is the 77th homicide inside the city.
