US – Canada will now start allowing fully vaccinated Americans to enter the country on August 9th, this is the first time in over a year citizens can travel freely into the country.
The US/Canada border closed 16 months ago at the beginning of the pandemic. Essential travel including commercial trade was allowed only.
The Canadian Government did say that if COVID-19 epidemiology remains favorable they will be allowed to enter.
Americans who wish to enter the country will have to show proof that they have been vaccinated for more than 14 days prior to entry. Also, Canada is limiting entry to vaccinated people that have had only certain vaccinations including manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson, Only.
Canada said that they plan to fully open to non-vaccinated people but September.
