CIRCLEVILLE – Circleville Juvenile correction facility is under fire again for violations of state policies.
According to a press release, Ohio Inspector General received complaints alleging CJCF made several frivolous purchases. An investigation was launched and the inspectors found staff, “failed to follow procurement policies in multiple in multiple instances by failing to obtain the required number of quotes for purchases.”
In addition, the department made purchases that contradicted ODYS’s mission and goals by purchasing unsuitable video games rated, “mature” which had graphic violence, explicit sexual activity, deviant or disruptive behavior, and strong anti-enforcement themes. Some video games promoted the reckless operation of motor vehicles. These games were played by young offenders housed at the facility.
The General found multiple wrongdoing and policy violations, 19 recommendations were referred to the Ohio Auditor of the State for evaluation.
