OHIO – A push to change outlooks on Native American mascots in sports including local schools.
Reps. Adam Miller, D-Columbus, and Jessica Miranda, D-Forest Park, introduced a resolution Wednesday that wants Ohio’s schools to move on from Native American Icons for more Politically correct ones.
The move happened after Former Cleveland Indians changed to Cleveland Guardians.
These Lawmakers said that these hurtful mascots have no stereotypes in Ohio.
There are a total of 79 High schools in Ohio that have Native American names or mascots. Several in Southern Ohio.
