PICKAWAY COUNTY – Pickawat county school Superintendents went on record in a press release saying that they are recommending children wear masks in schools.

This press release came after Governor Dewine said on Friday that he strongly encourages Ohio schools to mask up for all students and staff regardless of vaccination status.

A statement was released from four Pickaway county school superintendents, Circleville, Logan Elm, Teays Valley, and Westfall in a conjunctive effort.

“The Pickaway County superintendents are now committed to recommending that all staff and students wear masks. This is not a requirement, but an appeal for everyone to make a sacrifice for the good of all our students and staff. If the number of positive cases and quarantines rise rapidly in our country in the future, we will be forced to require the use of masks,” was said in a group press release from all four schools.

In the statement, the superintendents warned that Pickaway county is at a “critical juncture,” and, “if the number of positive cases and quarantines rise rapidly in our county in the future, we will be forced to require the use of masks.”

The schools say that this is a hard choice because they understand that, “this is a divisive issue for many in the country and that there are strong opinions on both sides of the issue, but medical experts do know that wearing masks prevents the spread of the virus.”

Keeping kids in school for face-to-face learning is a goal of Governor Dewine and the Department of Education.

In a report of Online vs Face to face learning posted by the Department of Education, the report says, “The face-to-face class performed statistically,
significantly better than the online class in terms of the exam average and
improvement in post-test instructor questions.”
