Fairfield – On December 9, Sheriff Alex Lape reports that deputies from the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Enforcement Bureau took a report of a threat of violence that had been posted on social media.

The threat stated that the author was going to carry out an act of violence at the school and that the students of Pickerington High School North would be the target.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau began working to identify and locate the author. While doing so, the Enforcement Bureau received a report of a separate, unrelated threat of violence involving students from Pickerington High School North that were posted on a different social media platform. Within hours, the investigations Bureau was able to identify the authors of the posts and determine their locations.

Search warrants were obtained and executed at the residences of the individuals responsible for making the posts.

Both individuals were identified as juveniles who are enrolled as students at Pickerington High School North.

The first juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center where he was booked on a charge of Making Terroristic Threats, a felony of the third degree.

The second juvenile was released to his parents after it was determined that his post was not intended to be a threat towards the school or student body. Charges related to the incident will be filed with the County Prosecutor.

There is no credibility to the threats directed at the school, students, or faculty.
