Chillicothe – A woman was arrested shortly after a car was stolen in Chillicothe on Tuesday
According to police on 4/4/2023 they were dispatched to the BP located at 741 Safford Ave. in reference to a vehicle being reported as stolen. While en route to the BP, the officer identified the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on S. Paint St. and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver did not stop but attempted to flee from the officers, but was eventually stopped on State Route 772.
When asked she told police that she stole the vehicle, “because I was in the neighborhood.”
The operator, Tamara Detty, was removed from the vehicle, and placed under arrest. Detty was charged with Theft without consent, failure to comply, obstruction official business, and DUS FRA suspension
According to police the man left the vehicle running in the parking lot when he went into the BP to use the bathroom
