Fatal Crash – US-22 Crash Involved Clinton County Sheriff Sergeant

Wilmington – The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wilmington Post, is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash. The crash occurred on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at approximately 01:22 A.M. on U.S. Route 22 near mile post 14 in Union Township, Clinton County, Ohio.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Hyundai Sonata operated by Tessa Hicks, 25, of Clarksville, Ohio, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 22. A Clinton County Sheriff’s Office 2020 Ford Explorer operated by Sergeant Terrance Meehan, 57, of Washington Court House, Ohio, was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 22. The Hyundai traveled left of center and struck the patrol car head-on.

Ms. Hicks was pronounced deceased on scene.

Units assisting on scene were the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Wilmington Police Department, Wilmington Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service, and the Clinton County Coroner’s Office.

The traffic crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
