Chillicothe – Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Michael K. Ervin has been selected as
the 2023 Trooper of the Year at the Chillicothe Post.
Trooper Ervin, age 39, was selected in recognition of outstanding service during 2023 at
the Chillicothe Post. Trooper Ervin was chosen for this award by his peers because of his
enthusiastic work attitude, leadership abilities, community engagement, and
professionalism with his supervisors, peers, and the public.
Trooper Ervin is now in contention for the District and State Trooper of the Year Awards,
which will be announced at a later date.
Trooper Ervin has previously received the Criminal Patrol Award every year from 2009
through 2019 and 2022 and the ACE Award in 2009, 2017, 2022, and 2023.
Trooper Ervin joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2007 and was a member of the
148th Academy Class. Upon his graduation, Trooper Ervin served at the Portsmouth Post,
the Jackson Post, and the Chillicothe Post. Trooper Ervin also served in the U.S. Marine
Corps from 2002 through 2006. Trooper Ervin attended Sciotoville East High School in
Scioto County. Trooper Ervin and his daughter, Lexi, live in Lucasville, Ohio.
