Chillicothe — In the last Ross County Grand Jury of the year – convening on a special day, Wednesday – they returned all 14 of their cases, with two open. One of the open cases was returned as only a misdemeanor.
From testimony in the the grand jury on the one open felony, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:
On October 26th, Chillicothe Police were dispatched to an address on Washington Avenue in regards to the theft of a firearm.
The victim said he had 25-year-old Immanuel L. Mathews of Vine Street over for a couple weeks, working on a bike (presumably a motorcycle).
The victim said Mathews returned the bike, and then walked through the house, and the victim tried to give a tool bag back to Mathews.
He also said he had a 9mm G2 Taurus handgun under his coffee table, and when he turned away, Mathews took off out the front door. He then found the gun missing.
Later that day, Officers found Mathews with the victim’s gun in his pocket, and he said he was just delivering the gun to the victim.
For indictments on third degree felony grand theft, Mathews could get up to three years and $10,000 in fines.
