Columbus, Ohio (February 16, 2024) – A search for a missing child took a heartbreaking turn today with the tragic discovery of 5-year-old Darnell Taylor’s body. Just hours after his legal guardian, Pammy Maye, was charged with kidnapping and child endangerment, Taylor was found deceased in a Franklin County sewage drain.
The investigation began Wednesday morning with an AMBER Alert issued for both Taylor and Maye. Maye’s Jeep was located abandoned near Cleveland soon after, but their whereabouts remained unknown. Thursday saw Maye apprehended and charged, with Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant pleading for her cooperation in ensuring Taylor’s safety.
Unfortunately, hope turned to devastation Friday with the discovery of Taylor’s body. Chief Bryant confirmed Maye will now face murder charges in addition to the existing kidnapping and child endangerment counts.
This development leaves a community mourning and seeking answers. While the investigation remains ongoing, the loss of young Darnell Taylor brings immense sadness and raises questions about the circumstances surrounding his death. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as they work to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome.
