Dayton, Ohio (February 17, 2024) – Today, AES Ohio, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, announced its Smart Grid Phase 2 Plan, proposing a $682.7 million investment in grid modernization over the next ten years. This builds upon the successes of Phase 1, further enhancing system stability, performance, and communication capabilities for customers.

The plan focuses on three key areas:
- Automation of Distribution Operations: Streamlining grid operations for faster response and outage prevention.
- Advanced Grid Intelligence: Integrating advanced analytics for real-time insights and data-driven decision-making.
- Telecommunications and Cybersecurity: Strengthening communication networks and enhancing cybersecurity measures.
Beyond enhanced reliability, these initiatives will prepare AES Ohio to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into its grid, fostering a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
