Carroll, Ohio (March 4, 2024) – A kayaking trip on Greenfield Lake turned into a tragic event yesterday evening, claiming the life of a Lancaster resident.
According to Sheriff Alex Lape, emergency responders were called to the scene at 6:06 pm on March 3rd after reports of a possible drowning.
The victim, identified as 42-year-old Jeremy Klobusnik, was reportedly enjoying a fishing trip on his kayak when it capsized, throwing him into the water.
Despite swift response from emergency personnel, including the Greenfield Township Fire Department and the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Mr. Klobusnik was recovered from the water unresponsive. He was transported to Fairfield Medical Center, where he was sadly pronounced deceased.
While the investigation into the incident continues, authorities have stated that foul play is not suspected. This heartbreaking event serves as a reminder of the inherent risks associated with water activities and the importance of safety precautions.
