OHIO – Local primary elections are just weeks away bringing on a big day in the election cycle super Tuesday.

Super Tuesday is the United States presidential primary election day in February or March when the greatest number of U.S. states hold primary elections and caucuses. Approximately one-third of all delegates to the presidential nominating conventions can be won on Super Tuesday, more than on any other day. The results on Super Tuesday are therefore a strong indicator of the likely eventual presidential nominee of each political party.

Nationally front runners like Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democrat President Joe Biden still lead the race in both parties by quite a bit, today will really lock in those nominations.

Alabama, Alaska, American Samoa, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, and Virginia are holding their presidential primaries on this date, and Iowa’s Democratic mail-in caucus will finish accepting votes on Super Tuesday as well. Approximately 36% of the Republican delegates will be chosen by these primaries and caucuses.

Election day in Ohio is Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Polling locations throughout the county are only open on that day. Until election Day, early voting is available at the office in Circleville.
