Circleville – Friends and family are coming together this morning to mourn the loss of a man who was hit by a car on US-23 on Friday night.
According to family members Mark Harvey lived in Logan Elm Village, due to a debilitating car crash in 1996 Harvey didn’t drive, so he frequently walked to place to place, and often walked across US-23. His sister told Sciotopost that he would come and visit her often at the Quality Inn that’s located across from Logan Elm Village where she worked the night shift. Sometimes he crossed the roadway to get a bite to eat.
“My brother was a good guy with a great personality, she told Sciotopost that they lost their dad in a coal mining accident in 1982 and he lived with our mother until she passed in 2020. Like any family would say he was loved and he loved his family and enjoyed being around them when he could. He loved to go out eat, fishing when he had the opportunity. He always kept busy doing whatever he could to past the day and time away. He was 47. After his car wreck in 96, he overcame a lot of obstacles. He was in a coma and when he came out he had to learn everything all over again. Walk, talk, eat. He couldn’t run and walked with a stagger or limp because of that. He really loved to try to workout and loved to show off his muscles after. He didn’t work because of his disability from that car wreck he received SSI.”
The family has created a GoFundMe, because of his disability he didn’t have very much.
“He didn’t believe in cremation and was heartbroken when that was all I could do with mom after her passing. So my brother was trying to get money for a burial because that’s what he would have wanted.”
