On March 10th, 2024, while patrolling S Watt Street, an officer observed a white Subaru SUV. A check of the registration revealed it had expired in January 2024. A traffic stop was initiated near the intersection of N Rose and E Water Street.
Encounter with Driver
The officer approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The driver provided identification, which revealed a suspended license.
The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and consented to a search of his person. During the search, a small clear baggie containing a white powdery rock was located in the driver’s right leg sweat pocket. The driver stated the substance was pure fentanyl.
Search of the Vehicle
The driver denied having any other illegal items in the vehicle. A search based on probable cause was conducted, but no additional evidence was found.
Driver Informed of Charges
The driver 41 year old Taylor Stanely was informed of potential additional charges pending lab results. The driver was issued citations for driving under suspension (DUS) and expired registration before being released from the scene.
Evidence Processing
Upon arrival at the Chillicothe Police Department, photos of the seized evidence were taken. The weight of the white powdery rock was measured at approximately 0.59 grams.
