Pickaway County – The Pickaway County election office will meet on Friday to confirm the official results from the March 19th primary elections and to review the unofficial results discrepancy.
According to the Pickaway County election board they, “encountered a discrepancy in the unofficial election results, casting a shadow over the integrity of the process and necessitating a thorough review.”
The discrepancy, identified in the unofficial results, involved an erroneous addition of more mail absentee vote totals than were actually cast for all candidates.
The election board did report that, “the discrepancy does not alter the unofficial outcome of any contests.”
Since then the BOE has not released any more information and told us that everything would be covered in the Friday meeting.
This comes in the wake of several very close elections including the Sheriff election where Sheriff Hafey has unofficially won re-election over Dale Thomas but only by 136 votes. With 182 votes still out between 65 mail ballots and 117 are provisional. One Republican Central Committee member race is separated by one vote, currently, Richard Elsea has 117 votes to Tammy Downs McCaffreys 116 in the Circleville south run.
We will have updates to the elections after 3 pm.
