On March 28, 2024, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office received a dispatch regarding a female wearing a flannel jacket walking in the middle of Darby Creek Road near SR-762. A Sheriff Deputy was dispatched to the scene to investigate the situation.
Upon arriving at the area, the Deputy learned from dispatch that there had been six previous calls for service regarding the same female walking in the roadway since February 1, 2024, including one related to mental health concerns.
Not finding her in the roadway at the time the Deputy who was familiar with the suspect proceeded to the vicinity of 10317 Darby Creek Road, a location frequented by the woman in question, identified as Angela Ross. Based on prior encounters, it was known that Ross often walked to a nearby gas station for cigarettes.
Subsequently, the Deputy proceeded to 9139 US-62, where Ross was spotted pacing back and forth in front of the gas station, exhibiting signs of being under the influence of narcotics and engaging in self-endangering behavior by walking in traffic.
Upon attempting to communicate with Ross, she refused to engage and began walking toward Amy’s Pizza. Despite the deputies instructions to stop and discuss the situation, Ross continued walking, prompting the sheriff to intervene to prevent her from walking into oncoming traffic.
However, Ross resisted the Deputies attempts to control her and even made statements challenging her arrest. It was during this confrontation that Deputy discovered prescription medication in Ross’s possession, indicating potential substance abuse issues.
Ultimately, Ross was placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication and Resisting Arrest and transported to the Pickaway County Jail. Due to the recurring nature of the incidents involving Ross, law enforcement authorities requested that she be evaluated by Paint Valley Mental Health prior to release.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the importance of addressing mental health concerns in such cases to ensure the safety and well-being of both the individual and the community at large.
