An unsettling encounter at a McDonald’s location on 40 N Bridge Street sparked a chain of events that culminated in the arrest of a suspect with active felony warrants. Here’s what transpired:
Initial reports to authorities indicated a suspicious individual at McDonald’s, prompting the response of law enforcement officers. The situation escalated when a caller, reported that he and his brother, encountered Noah Richards at a red light. Allegations surfaced that Richards brandished a firearm during the encounter. Despite reluctance to file a formal report, witness expressed concern about Richards’ erratic behavior, suggesting possible drug influence.
Upon arrival, officers were informed of Richards’ two outstanding warrants: a felony secret indictment for RSP and theft charges from Ross County Sheriff’s Office, and a probation violation with an original charge of obstructing official business from Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
Inside the restaurant, officers located Richards, who attempted to evade arrest by retreating towards the restrooms. Despite commands to surrender, Richards resisted, prompting a physical altercation. During the struggle, Richards allegedly attempted to reach for a firearm, which was later recovered from the scene.
Following his apprehension, Richards requested medical assistance, claiming to have ingested Fentanyl. He was subsequently transported to ARMC for evaluation.
Review of security footage revealed Richards’ prior barring from McDonald’s, and his involvement in the incident was captured on camera.
Supplemental reports from officers involved in the arrest provided additional insights into the altercation. Officer Joshua Wright detailed Richards’ resistance and the recovery of the handgun during the struggle. Officer Wright sustained an injury to his left knee during the encounter.
Richards now faces an array of charges, including obstructing, resisting arrest, weapons under disability, escape, and trespass, along with existing warrants from Pike and Ross Counties.
