The Scioto Valley — The Chillicothe and Ross County League of Women Voters is offering an update on the ongoing demolition – and future use of the site – of the former Gaseous Diffusion Plant near Piketon.

The league has announced they are hosting two guest speakers Tuesday evening at Ohio University Chillicothe as a “phenomenal Earth Day event.”

Jeremy Davis is the Portsmouth Site Lead for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Portsmouth / Paducah Project Office (PPPO). The league says he has more than 20 years of experience in the nuclear industry, having worked on both DOE and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulated activities.

Kevin Shoemaker is the in-house council for the Southern Ohio Diversification Initiative (SODI) whose mission is “to improve the quality of life for Jackson, Pike, Ross, and Scioto Counties.” (Shoemaker is also president of Chillicothe Council.)
