Ross County, Ohio – Authorities are conducting an investigation following the discovery of a body in a wooded area off Baum Hill Road on April 21, 2024. The Ross County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) responded to reports of human remains found in the vicinity.
However, authorities returned to the scene in the 1300 block the following morning to continue their efforts. The remote location of the discovery, coupled with the late hour of the initial report, has made the investigation challenging.
According to updates from RCSO, the bones were found by mushroom hunters, indicating that the area may be frequented by individuals engaging in outdoor activities. However, the presence of squatters on private property adds complexity to the investigation.
The body, identified as 49-year-old Alan W. Brown, was taken into the care of the Ross County Coroner. Preliminary findings suggest that Brown’s death may have been accidental in nature.
