Chillicothe, Ohio – On July 2, 2024, a theft incident at the Walmart located at 85 Rivertrace Lane led to the arrest of Skylar Ours, who was found with suspected narcotics.
The Chillicothe Police Department received a report of a theft from the store, with the suspect, identified as Skylar Ours, fleeing the scene in a maroon Dodge truck. Officers were dispatched to the location, and the suspect vehicle was located and stopped on US 35 East by a responding officer.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with Skylar Ours, who had previously been identified by Walmart Asset Protection associate, Cassel Bowen. Bowen reported that Ours had attempted to steal multiple items by placing them in Walmart bags and bypassing all points of sale. When confronted, Ours dropped the items, which totaled $115.60, and fled to his truck.
During the traffic stop, Ours admitted to attempting the theft and stated he had dropped the stolen items in the parking lot. A search of his vehicle revealed suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Officers found a plastic bag containing a crystal rock substance, a cigarette pack with another smaller bag containing the same substance, foil with a white powder substance, a cut straw, and a glass pipe with residue and burn marks. Ours admitted to using methamphetamine.
Skylar Ours was arrested and transported to the Ross County Jail. He was charged with Possessing Drug Paraphernalia, in violation of Section 2925.14 of the Revised Code, and Theft, in violation of Section 2913.02A3 of the Revised Code. Additional charges for drug possession are pending lab results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification (BCI&I). The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Ours will remain in custody until his court appearance.
