CHILLICOTHE, OH — Authorities have launched an investigation following a reported breaking and entering at the Armory Building, located at 19 Enderlin Circle. The incident was discovered on July 30, 2024, after an alert Chillicothe City employee noticed unusual activity at the site.
A city employee, reported that he observed the building’s lights were on—a situation he deemed out of the ordinary. Upon inspecting the premises, he found that the armory had been forcibly entered and all fire extinguishers inside had been emptied onto the floors. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday evening and Monday morning.
Responding to the call, the Officer entered the building and confirmed the scene: fire extinguishers were scattered across every room, dart boards were ripped from the walls and strewn across the floor, and various tracks were visible throughout the gym area, staircases, and rooms. It appeared that at least two individuals may have been involved, as indicated by the presence of two distinct sets of tracks.
During the investigation, Tuttle recovered a possible thumb print from one of the fire extinguishers and found a hat in the building’s elevator. Both items have been collected and will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation.
It remains unclear how the perpetrators gained entry to the building. Initial observations revealed that the garage door at the back of the property was unsecured and could be lifted. Additionally, an east door was found unlocked.
The Chillicothe Police Department continues to investigate the incident and is seeking any information that may assist in identifying the suspects involved. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
