Pickaway County, OH — August 1, 2024 — Amber N. Kaufman, a 33-year-old from Orient, Ohio, has been indicted with sexual battery following an incident at a local detention facility a felony.
According to court documents, Kaufman, who was employed by Aramark—a company that partners with correctional facilities to provide services—allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with Christian N. Bradford, an inmate at the facility where Kaufman worked. This conduct occurred on or around June 23, 2024.
Bradford is incarcerated in Orient Correctional Institution prison on child sex crimes charges of Pandering sex material involving a minor and importuning he was sentenced in Adams County.
The charges against Kaufman stem from allegations that she, an employee of the facility, had a sexual encounter with Bradford, who was confined within the detention center. Kaufman reportedly used her position to manipulate security measures, allowing her and Bradford to create unsupervised time during security rounds.
The case came to light after correctional officers noticed Kaufman disappearing for extended periods into the dry goods section of the facility. An investigation, which included a review of security camera footage, revealed that Kaufman was found stripping in front of Bradford, and then having sex, leading to the incident being captured on video.
Kaufman is facing a felony charge of sexual battery under Section 2907.03(A)(11) of the Ohio Revised Code, a third-degree felony. This charge represents a serious violation of the law and is deemed a significant breach of the peace and dignity of the State of Ohio.
Kaufman appeared this week in Pickaway Common Pleas where she pleaded not guilty.
