Ross County, OH — A serious two-vehicle collision on US-23 Northbound near Maple Lane has prompted a significant emergency response, including the deployment of a medical helicopter. The accident was reported around 12:15 p.m. today.
Initial reports indicated the severity of the crash required airlifting multiple victims. Emergency responders initially requested two helicopters to assist with the medical evacuation. However, one helicopter informed the team that it would be more than 30 minutes before arriving at the scene. Consequently, responders opted to proceed with Medflight, which was reported to be just minutes away. Firefigthers then worked for around 20 minutes to extricate one individual who was entrapped in one of the vehicles.
The extent of the injuries involved is currently unknown, but first responders are actively managing the scene. Firefighters have landed a helicopter directly on US-23, leading to a complete shutdown of the roadway in both directions to facilitate the emergency response.
