LANCASTER, OH — In a significant development for local transportation, the Fairfield County Commissioners have officially transitioned the Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit (LFPT) into a county department. To mark this new chapter, the Commissioners are inviting the community to take part in the “Brand the Bus” initiative, aiming to gather fresh name suggestions for the transit system.
Aaron Kennedy, Transit Director, expressed enthusiasm about the transition: “As a newly established county department, we’re thrilled to continue meeting the transportation needs of Fairfield County’s residents, employers, and visitors. The ‘Brand the Bus’ contest is a fantastic way for our community to make their mark on our transit system, helping us select a name that truly reflects the essence of Fairfield County.”
The shift to a county department represents a major advancement in addressing the evolving transportation demands of the community. The Commissioners are encouraging residents to propose names that capture the essence of efficient, accessible, and reliable transit services.
Fairfield County Commissioner Steve Davis highlighted the importance of community involvement: “We are excited to see the creativity of our community through this contest. It’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone to contribute to the identity of our public transit system. I’m looking forward to seeing names that embody the spirit and purpose of our services, underscoring the vital role public transit plays in connecting and supporting our community.”
Residents can submit their name ideas through September 27 by using the following link: Submit Your Name Ideas. Entries will be reviewed and narrowed down to a shortlist of top names. The community will then have the opportunity to vote on these final options. Finalists will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a complimentary advertisement (birthday, graduation, etc.) on one bus for a month.
