Columbus, OH — The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife is inviting the public to share their opinions on upcoming boat ramp improvement projects. Feedback will be accepted through Monday, September 30.

The Division of Wildlife has outlined plans for enhancements at several locations, including Deer Creek State Park, the Walnut Road site at Hoover Reservoir, and the Bonner Road site at Berlin Lake. These improvements are part of the Division’s Environmental Assessment process, which is open to public comment under the National Environmental Policy Act.

Interested individuals can review the Environmental Assessment online at wildohio.gov. Comments can be submitted via email to [email protected] or mailed to Ricardo Granados, Division of Wildlife, 2045 Morse Rd., Building G, Columbus, OH 43229.

Since 1950, the Sport Fish Restoration program has provided permanent funding for fishery conservation through federal excise taxes on fishing equipment and import duties on fishing tackle and pleasure boats, as well as a portion of the gasoline fuel tax for small engines and motorboats. These funds, allocated annually by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, support habitat acquisition, fish production and stocking, research, aquatic education, and fishing access.

The National Environmental Policy Act, enacted on January 1, 1970, mandates an analysis of the environmental effects of proposed projects, ensuring public involvement and transparency.
