Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office and FBI Respond to Online Threat Against Local School District

Fairfield County, OH — On September 16, 2024, Sheriff Alex Lape announced that the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), addressed a potential online threat targeting the Fairfield Union Local School District. The threat was flagged by the FBI, prompting a swift investigation by local authorities.

The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, working closely with officials from the Fairfield Union School District, identified two juvenile suspects connected to the threat. Following a thorough investigation and consultation with the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects were arrested and taken to the Fairfield County Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center.

Sheriff Lape expressed gratitude to the FBI, the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Fairfield Union Local School District for their prompt and effective response to the situation. He emphasized the Sheriff’s Office’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for students and residents.
