Wellston Woman Charged with Conspiracy to Commit Murder

Wellston, OH — A Wellston woman is facing serious legal consequences after being charged with conspiracy to commit murder. According to Jackson County Sheriff Tedd Frazier, 66-year-old Kathy L. Rainer was arrested on September 12, 2024, following an investigation into a disturbing plot.

The investigation began on September 11, when deputies were alerted to reports that Rainer had sought someone to purchase Fentanyl for the purpose of murdering a man who resided in her home. The alleged plan quickly drew the attention of law enforcement, who gathered evidence leading to the filing of criminal charges.

On September 12, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office decided to proceed with charges against Rainer. She was arrested by Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies and is now being held at the Jackson County Correctional Facility. The charge against Rainer is a first-degree felony.

The case may see further developments as additional charges could be considered following the outcome of a Jackson County Grand Jury session. As of now, Rainer remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
