Ross County — The Ross County Grand Jury returned 21 of their 24 cases Friday, September 13th, 2024, with six open for release to the public.

According to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office, from testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases:

On July 1st, Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 9000 block of State Route 772 in reference to a domestic dispute.

The victim said her assailant had fled the scene. She gave a description of his vehicle, which was found stopped close to her location, and 25-year-old Troy S. Thomas of Gilmore Street in Chillicothe was arrested.

The victim said she lived with him, they have children together, and she was pregnant with another.

She said earlier in the day they had gotten into an argument and he had left the residence. She then left to run errands. But upon returning, she saw his car in the driveway, and she decided to leave immediately.

But Thomas jumped onto her hood. She slammed on the brakes, causing him to slide off. He then punched the left side of her head through the driver-side window.

He then fled the scene.

For indictments on fifth-degree felony domestic violence with the specification of a pregnant woman (the most recent addition to that state law) Thomas could get up to a year and $2,500 in fines.
