A Minnesota-based frozen food delivery company, Yelloh—formerly known as Schwan’s—has announced it will cease operations in November, permanently parking its iconic fleet of brightly colored delivery trucks.

Founded in 1952, Yelloh became a household name for its convenient doorstep deliveries. However, in a recent press release, the company stated that despite the current team’s efforts to navigate challenges such as staffing shortages and supply chain disruptions, its business model has become increasingly unsustainable in today’s competitive market. The company pointed to various insurmountable challenges, including economic pressures and shifting consumer lifestyles, as key factors in its decision.

“It’s with heavy hearts that we made the difficult decision to cease operations of Yelloh,” said CEO Bernardo Santana. “We are thankful to our many loyal customers and hard-working employees for everything they have done to support us. I am deeply grateful for our employees’ tireless and bold efforts, and our customers’ dedication. It has been our utmost pleasure and honor to serve our customers their
favorite meals and frozen treats.”

The closure will impact approximately 1,100 employees, with around 200 jobs lost in Minnesota alone. Yelloh plans to wind down operations over the next two months, with the last day for customer purchases set for Friday, November 8th.

As the company prepares to close its doors, it marks the end of an era for a brand that has been a staple in frozen food delivery for decades.
