HARRISBURG, OH — A 45-year-old Columbus man was arrested on Sunday following a high-speed chase on a stolen scooter that began in Franklin County and ended in Pickaway County.

According to the Harrisburg Police Department, an officer attempted to stop the scooter after discovering the license plate was fictitious while patrolling US-62. Instead of complying, the rider accelerated, leading police on a pursuit.

The chase traversed into Pickaway County, moving past the village of Harrisburg and taking a left onto Ballah Road. The scooter then entered the Clarks Lake development before returning to Ballah Road, reaching speeds of over 60 mph.

Eventually, as the chase continued onto Scioto Darby Road, the suspect realized he could not evade the pursuing officer and pulled over, surrendering without further incident.

Lance Collins, the arrested individual, was charged with receiving stolen property, felony fleeing, and using fictitious tags. The scooter was confirmed to be stolen from Columbus in May. Collins is currently in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
