COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced today a state of emergency for Lawrence, Jackson, Pike, and Scioto counties due to severe weather that struck on Friday, September 27. The storm brought high winds, flooding, power outages, and downed trees, significantly impacting local roadways and residences.

“This declaration will allow the state to expedite assistance to these communities,” Governor DeWine stated. “We will continue to monitor the situation and support Southern Ohio as they recover from the storm damage and manage the large amounts of debris.”

The Ohio Emergency Management Agency (Ohio EMA) is actively working with the affected counties to assess their needs and provide necessary support. Ohio EMA remains in close contact with County Emergency Management Agencies to monitor ongoing developments and facilitate assistance.

Local governments requiring aid are encouraged to reach out to their respective County Emergency Management Agency offices. All four counties—Lawrence, Jackson, Pike, and Scioto—have either declared or are in the process of declaring a state of emergency.
