LAS VEGAS, NV – The cause of death for baseball legend Pete Rose, who passed away at his Las Vegas home on Monday, has been confirmed as a serious heart condition. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the 83-year-old sports icon died from the effects of hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, as announced by Clark County Coroner Melanie Rouse on Tuesday.

Hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease affects about half of Americans over the age of 45 and can worsen with age. Rose, known for his impressive career with the Cincinnati Reds, had been banned from Major League Baseball in 1989 for gambling on the sport.

Just one day before his death, Rose made his final public appearance at a sports memorabilia show in Nashville, Tennessee. His passing marks the end of an era for a player who remains one of the most discussed figures in baseball history.

Cincinnati, OH – Pete Rose, the Cincinnati native who etched his name in baseball history as the all-time hits leader, passed away on Monday at the age of 83, according to his agent, Ryan Fiterman, and reported by TMZ.

Rose’s illustrious career was marked by incredible achievements, including breaking Ty Cobb’s hit record in 1985 with 4,256 hits, a milestone that still stands today. He also held numerous records for most games played, at-bats, times reached base, singles, and surprisingly, most outs.

However, Rose’s legacy was also marred by controversy. In 1989, he was banned from baseball for life due to gambling allegations during his tenure as manager of the Cincinnati Reds, his hometown team.

Despite his impressive credentials, the lifetime ban kept Rose out of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. His legacy continues to spark debate among baseball enthusiasts and historians.

Rose’s journey to stardom began in 1963 when he was named National League Rookie of the Year, thanks in part to his uncle’s connections that secured him a tryout.

As news of Rose’s passing spreads, fans and the baseball community mourn the loss of a complex figure who left an indelible mark on the sport.
