Circleville, OH — As the 117th Circleville Pumpkin Show kicks off, the Circleville Police Department is offering Child ID wristbands to enhance safety for families attending the festivities. These wristbands, available at the police station located at 151 E. Franklin St., are essential for quickly reuniting children with their parents or guardians in the event of separation. Officers will also be distributing additional wristbands while patrolling downtown during the event.
This initiative aims to create a safer environment for the hundreds of thousands of visitors expected at the Pumpkin Show, which can often lead to common issues such as lost children and vehicles. The department expresses gratitude to the Savings Bank for their generous donation of the wristbands.
In addition to the wristband program, police officials are encouraging attendees to follow several safety tips to ensure a smooth experience:
- Establish a Meeting Place: Designate a specific spot for your group to reunite if separated.
- Document Your Vehicle Location: Take a photo or note where you parked to help locate it later.
- Memorize Important Phone Numbers: Keep key contacts in mind in case of a dead phone battery.
- Park Legally: Avoid blocking alleys, driveways, streets, or fire hydrants.
- Stay Informed: Check local news and weather updates before arriving.
- Secure Your Vehicle: Lock doors and refrain from leaving valuables visible.
As part of the festivities, attendees are invited to participate in the “Selfie with a Cop/Deputy” event. Visitors are encouraged to snap photos with officers and deputies at the festival, tagging the Circleville Police Department and the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office on social media. Photos can also be sent via Facebook Messenger for sharing.
The Circleville Police Department wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable Pumpkin Show experience!
