OAK BROOK, Ill., Oct. 18, 2024 — TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS) has announced a voluntary recall of specific frozen waffle products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. This organism poses serious health risks, particularly for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may experience only mild symptoms—such as high fever, headache, nausea, and diarrhea—Listeria can lead to severe complications, including miscarriages in pregnant women.
The affected waffle products were distributed across the United States and Canada, packaged under various brand names. Consumers can identify the recalled items by checking the UPC code on the back of the carton, as well as the Lot Code and Best By Date on the carton’s end. Detailed images of the recalled products are available on the company’s website.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of illness associated with these products. The potential contamination was discovered during routine testing at the manufacturing facility.
TreeHouse Foods advises consumers to inspect their freezers for the recalled products. If found, these items should be disposed of or returned to the point of purchase for a refund. For further information or questions, consumers can contact TreeHouse Foods at 800-596-2903, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (CST).
This recall is being conducted in coordination with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
