TGI Friday’s is reportedly on the brink of bankruptcy after the restaurant chain abruptly closed dozens of locations across the country last week. This includes the closure of its last restaurant in central Ohio and the Canton location, which was the sole remaining TGI Friday’s in Stark County.
Currently, the chain lists just 163 open restaurants on its locator, a significant drop from the 213 locations that were operational just a week prior. This marks a drastic decline from the 270 U.S. locations TGI Friday’s had at the beginning of the year. In January, the company had already closed 36 “underperforming” restaurants, according to a press release.
The recent closures raise concerns about the future of TGI Friday’s as it navigates financial challenges in a competitive dining landscape.
