Amazon has introduced “Haul,” a new shopping outlet in its app that caps prices on items at $20 in a bid to compete with budget-friendly rivals Temu and Shein. The platform, launched Wednesday for U.S. customers, offers a mobile-only experience where shoppers can browse a variety of products with what Amazon calls “crazy low prices.” Items available on Haul will typically cost less than $10, with examples such as a three-piece razor set and a jewelry set priced under $3.

While products on Haul will come with a delivery time of up to two weeks, Amazon is offering free shipping on orders over $25. The company aims to position Haul as a go-to destination for low-cost shopping while competing with Chinese e-commerce brands that have recently gained traction in the U.S. market.

Despite their popularity, these low-cost platforms have faced criticism for their environmental impact, particularly concerning the production and shipping of inexpensive goods. By setting a $20 price cap and offering extended delivery times, Amazon’s Haul may serve as its response to the rising demand for affordable online shopping options.
