Circleville, OH (November 14, 2024) – In a show of community support, the grassroots group Pickaway County 100+ Women Who Care has donated $10,000 to the revitalization of Circleville’s historic Ted Lewis Park. The donation, presented on November 14, will support ongoing efforts by The Friends of Ted Lewis Park, a civic organization dedicated to transforming the county’s oldest park into a vibrant hub for residents.
Larry Logan, founder of The Friends of Ted Lewis Park, expressed the importance of the park’s accessibility, noting that it is the only park in Pickaway County that can be easily accessed by foot and bike. “This is the one park in the county that is accessible by foot and bike,” Logan said. “It’s crucial that we provide a place for residents to play, relax, and gather.”
The $10,000 donation will fund several key improvements to the park, including the construction of a three-season shelter house with a snack bar for local clubs to use for fundraisers. The funds will also support the installation of LED lighting for the softball and Pee Wee football fields, a new basketball court, the addition of walking trails and benches, as well as beautification efforts at the park’s entrance.
This donation comes on the heels of a $50,000 contribution from OhioHealth last month, which will be directed toward improvements to the youth playing fields at the park, which will be renamed OhioHealth Fields.
Founded just two years ago, Pickaway County 100+ Women Who Care is a group of local women committed to raising awareness and funding for charitable causes in the community. Their contribution to Ted Lewis Park’s revitalization is part of their mission to support impactful projects that benefit the region.
Logan emphasized that every donation, no matter the size, helps to move the project forward. “Every donation helps move this project forward and will benefit residents for years to come,” he said.
For those interested in supporting the park’s revitalization, donations can be made to the Pickaway County Community Foundation, Attn: Ted Lewis Park Fund, 770 N. Court St., Circleville.
The ongoing support from local organizations and residents reflects the community’s commitment to improving the public spaces that serve as gathering points for families, children, and individuals of all ages. With further funding, the vision for a revitalized Ted Lewis Park is quickly becoming a reality.
