CIRCLEVILLE, OH — The City of Circleville has been awarded a $994,000 grant from the Ohio Public Works Commission through the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program. This funding will be used to acquire two properties totaling 47 acres, which will be developed into new parkland, providing much-needed green space for the community.
The properties, located at 460 N. Pickaway St. and on N. Court St. near the River Ridge development, are set to become the city’s newest recreational areas. These acquisitions will play a key role in expanding the city’s park system and enhancing outdoor recreational opportunities for residents.
The new park spaces, as outlined in the grant, will be dedicated to passive recreation. Planned amenities include walking and biking trails, picnic areas, and dog parks, providing versatile spaces for residents to enjoy the outdoors in a relaxed and healthy environment.
Mayor Blanton expressed her excitement about the project, saying, “This funding is a tremendous boost for our community. It allows us to expand our park system and create beautiful, accessible spaces for everyone to enjoy. Our goal is to provide a vibrant, sustainable environment that enhances the quality of life for all Circleville residents.”
The development of these park lands is expected to have a lasting impact on Circleville, offering residents more opportunities for outdoor activities and improving the overall quality of life in the city. The city plans to keep the community informed about the project’s progress and will provide opportunities for public input throughout the development process.
This new initiative marks a significant step forward in preserving natural spaces and promoting healthy, active lifestyles in Circleville.
