Wheelersburg Man Arrested for Burglary Following Quick Response by Deputies

Scioto County, OH – A 33-year-old Wheelersburg man has been arrested for burglary after breaking into a home in Scioto County on Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2024.

Sheriff David Thoroughman reported that the Scioto County 911 communication center received a call at 3:17 p.m. from a resident on Kinker Drive, who stated that a man had broken into her home. The caller also informed authorities that her son was inside trying to stop the suspect.

Responding swiftly to the scene, deputies and detectives quickly learned that the suspect had stolen items from the home and fled on foot. Thanks to prompt investigative work, detectives were able to locate and apprehend the suspect within minutes. The stolen items were discovered hidden behind a nearby apartment complex.

Sheriff Thoroughman praised the quick action of Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel, Detective John Cart, and Deputies Craig Ashley and Alicia Underwood for their role in the successful arrest.

The suspect, Jazmine Allen, of Wheelersburg, has been charged with burglary (a second-degree felony) and theft (a first-degree misdemeanor). Allen is currently being held on a $76,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, December 2, 2024.

Further investigation revealed that Allen is suspected of breaking into several vehicles and attempting to break into others in the area of Kinker Drive and Dogwood Ridge. Authorities are urging anyone who may have been a victim of these crimes to contact the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and file a report.

Sheriff Thoroughman stated that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury in the near future. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091.
