Pickaway County Resident Dan Maher Honored for Excellence in Computer Forensics

COLUMBUS, OH – Pickaway County resident Dan Maher has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to computer forensics during an award presentation hosted by the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) at the United States Secret Service office in Columbus.

The NCFI annually honors its top 100 state and local law enforcement graduates who excel in digital forensic examination techniques. This year, Maher, a Forensic Computer Specialist with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Computer Crimes Unit, received two prestigious awards:

  • Top Forensic Examiner Award (his second time earning this recognition).
  • NCFI Cyber Investigative Impact Case Award for his significant contributions to cyber investigations.

Maher, who previously served with the Circleville Police Department before advancing to state-level work, has become a standout in the field of digital forensics, showcasing expertise that has significantly contributed to public safety.

Fellow Forensic Computer Specialist Stewart Watkins of the Patrol’s Computer Crimes Unit was also honored with a Top Forensic Examiner Award, highlighting the strength of the team’s work in combating cybercrime.

These awards reflect the Patrol’s commitment to innovation and excellence in forensic technology, underscoring the critical role of specialists like Maher in addressing complex digital crimes.
